As a Trucker, is Your Fluid Provider Helping You?

Being a truck driver includes a lot of different factors that must be considered in order to really perfect your company and guarantee that you are adequately prepared for the road. In many cases, this means needing to think about things that you may not have expected to need to think about prior to the decision to be a truck driver. One of these major decisions lies with your fluid provider. Should you have a fluid provider or partner? And how do you find the right one for you?

First, let us look at what a fluid provider does compared to a fluid partner.

A fluid provider is a third party who supplies oil and other fluids for your truck. This could be anything from gas to wiper fluid. However, the thing with the provider is their work with you starts and ends with providing the fluids. This is to say they do not work with you to find the best products and brands for your vehicle and/or fleet’s needs. Separately, a fluid partner is someone who works with you more. They are someone who is well versed in the different products and brands on the market and work with you to create a plan in order to find the best for your vehicle. With this said, all fluid partners are fluid providers but not all fluid providers are fluid partners. We suggest finding a provider who also is a partner for the best help, especially in the early days of your business.

Does your providing partner have the best products on the market?

This question could also be more specific to, will they ensure to provide the best products for you on the market? The best in the world may not be the best for you, so it is important to find someone who takes the time to figure out what products are the best for your vehicle’s needs and within your budget in order to get the best service to you! Additionally, this could mean finding the right product that serves multiple purposes, as the best products for you may be ones that reduce the amount of products you use overall.

Lastly, do they use up to date technology models?

This may sound silly, but it is actually more important than you would think. That is because using the right technology models will allow you to keep track of your products, company history, and maintain consistent, easy communication with them.

When getting set up with a fluids partner, we highly recommend thinking through all of these questions very thoroughly!
