Our New IRP Registration service helps owner-operators and trucking companies register vehicles under the International Registration Plan. We confirm your base jurisdiction, prepare the application, file it, and stay on it until your apportioned plate and cab card are issued.
The Plan is a reciprocity agreement between the 48 contiguous US states, the District of Columbia and ten Canadian provinces. The point of it is simple: instead of registering separately in every state you run through, you register once with your base jurisdiction and it collects fees on behalf of all of them. One apportioned plate and one cab card come back, and they are valid throughout the Plan.
Your vehicle needs apportioned registration if it is used in interstate commerce and has a gross or combined gross weight above 26,000 pounds, or if it has three or more axles on the power unit regardless of what it weighs. Meeting either test is enough. If you cross a state line only occasionally, temporary trip permits are usually cheaper, and we will tell you so rather than sell you a registration you do not need.
Most of the work in a first registration happens before anything is submitted: fixing the base jurisdiction, the declared weight for each state you run in, and the distance figures. Carriers with no operating history use the average per-vehicle distance chart published by their base jurisdiction — we apply the correct one, and your actual miles take over at the first renewal. Get these wrong and the application comes back weeks later, with the truck parked in the meantime.

All 17 characters per unit, exactly as they appear on the title.

Chosen from 13 brackets, from under 26,000 lb to 80,001 lb and above. The top bracket is quoted by phone.
- Axles without trailer
Counted on the power unit only — that is exactly how the field is labelled.
Credentials & sign-off
- IFTA, yes or no
Add quarterly fuel-tax reporting to the same filing, or skip it. Offered on new registrations, renewals, added vehicles and plate transfers.

California IRP registration — same-day apportioned plates
IRP Registration Services is authorized through the California DMV Interstate Carrier Program (ICP), so we process California IRP registrations directly and issue apportioned plates, cab cards and decals from our own office — no DMV queue, no waiting on a mailed plate.
